The service
Kalimo is a reading app for children aged 4 to 10, published by the publisher of the Kalimo app. Children read French comics in it, with a read-aloud tutor that listens to them, and earn coins for their parrot companion. By creating an account, you accept these terms.
The account
- The account belongs to a parent or an adult responsible for the child. A child has no account, email address or password: the parent creates and manages their profile.
- You give an email address that is yours and keep your password to yourself. The parent area is protected by that password.
- You can delete your account at any time: see Delete your account.
Reading aloud
Listening works only with an internet connection and access to the phone's microphone, which you can refuse: the child then reads without being listened to. The child's voice is never recorded (see the privacy policy).
Coins
Coins are earned by reading and spent only in the app, on the parrot and the library. They cannot be bought, have no money value and cannot be exchanged. Nothing is bought in the app.
Access to the stories
- An account's first child gets a free period (one month today), from their first opening in the app, during which they read one story a day. It is given once per account and per email address: a new account opened with the same address does not get another.
- After that, two paid offers, per child: one story a day, or every story. The price is shown before payment, with a discount when several of the account's children have an offer.
- Payment does not happen in the app.
- Each month is paid in advance, for 30 days, and does not renew by itself: without a new payment, the child's stories are paused at the end of the month. Moving from one story a day to every story during a month is paid for the days left.
- A month starts as soon as you pay, unless the child already has what it gives (one story a day during the free period, or a month of the same offer running): it then starts when that one ends.
- Before paying, you tick a box that asks for that start and acknowledges that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the month has started: a month that has started is not refunded. A month bought ahead can be cancelled until it starts, by writing to [email protected]: it is then refunded.
- While the stories are paused, the child keeps their profile and their progress.
The stories
Kalimo's stories, pictures, voices and sounds are protected. You may read and listen to them in the app, for personal and family use; you may not copy, share or reuse them elsewhere.
Normal use
Do not try to reach other people's accounts, disrupt the service or extract its content by automated means.
A service in its test phase
Kalimo is in its test phase: the app, its stories and its features may change, be interrupted or stop. We update these terms when the service changes; the date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
